Bye Bye Four Eyes!

Tom got LASIK!!!

His Dean Cain-esque look has vanished in favor of bright, shiny, perfect eyes.

The surgery was last Wednesday. I'm happy to say that at the end of day 7 Tom is feeling great and seeing the world in a whole new light. He's wanted to do this for quite some time and we're happy to have had the opportunity.

Fun fact - the guy who did his eyes also did surgery for Cindy Crawford, Drew Carey, Dennis Quaid, "the Fonz" and the Extreme Makeover participants. Not too shabby!

The night before surgery, dinner had a "Bye Bye Four Eyes" theme.

The four "eyes" were:
1) Rib "eye" steak
2) Potatoes (because they have "eyes")
3) Broccoli (because it has vitamins that are good for your eyes)
4) Limeade (l "eye" me-ade...use your imagination)

And then, of course, "eyes" cream from Coldstone for dessert. Good stuff!
Here's the patient getting in one last snuggle with Shelby before go time.

We kicked the glasses-clad Tom to the curb outside the office...
this is the last time anyone will see him like this!

We had a sweet little ceremony for the handsome glasses that have served Tom so well. He'll miss them...but not really because he'd rather see!

We also let the items in our bathroom know that there is now a vacancy in our medicine cabinet. Bye bye lenses!

Every day Tom finds something else to be excited about. He loves taking in the world with those perfect brown eyes. Hooray for LASIK!

I love you, and congratulations and all, but you and bill and dan all SUCK!!! Oh, I'm sorry, I'm just very jealous. My eye Rx has changed every year for the past 6 years we've had insurance, making me a very lousy Lasik candidate. BUT, Horray for you!! And Heather, you are awsome sending Tom's glasses and contacts off in the right way.

That is so great lasik went so well for him! I want to eventually do it, but am still nervous about it! Maybe one day. And where are the stunning pictures of Tom with no glasses?
