Our Impromptu Hike

Shelby found her hiking shoes in a drawer today. They're a size or two too big, so I've been saving them until her feet grow (which I swear never happens - she's still wearing sandals I bought two years ago!).

But she found the shoes. So we went hiking.

We tried to hike at this spot on the PV Peninsula before, but I lost the trail head. It couldn't be easier to find, but in a show of true incompetence I instead led myself and my friend on a wild goose chase on a day that wasn't great for hiking anyway due to drizzly weather. Not my best planning.

Cameron had his back to me, heard me take out the camera, and turned around to give me a big "Cheese!". He loves to mug.

So I hadn't set the bar high for our impromptu hike today, and I'm glad to say that not only did we actually find the trail head this time, we had a beautiful and very fun hike. I was amazed at the view from up there.

These two are closer friends each day.
Shelby actually looked at the camera today! I was thrilled!

Her CrAzY hair is pretty adorable.

She decided we needed a rest.
The quote of the day: "Mom, that hike was fun, but the walk back sure was long."

That's hiking in a nutshell; she picked that up early. You never realize how far you've gone until you turn around to come back.
