Student of the Month and Story Time with Santa

Our day started at Shelby's school assembly, where she was chosen as Student of the Month in her class. Go Shelby!

We were happy to be there to cheer her on as she met the mayor and the principal and high-fived the Cougar mascot.

The teachers get to do a writeup about why the student of the month was chosen. Here's what sweet Mrs. Rivera said about Shelby:

"Congratulations to our dear little Shelby for being Room 3's Student of the Month. We love her smiles, kindness, and friendliness. We also love to listen to the wonderful stories she reads us. Keep up the great work Shelby!!! We love you."

Mrs. Rivera has been a fantastic teacher and we sure love her back.

In the evening we had story time with Santa in our neighborhood. This Santa was wonderful and Shelby ate it up. Cameron is still skittish about the whole Santa thing but willingly ate the treats.

Shelby sat on Santa's lap! She's usually pretty indifferent about the whole thing, so I thought this was so cute.

I was in the restroom with Cameron during Shelby's visit (she was too excited about the candy cane to wait for me I'm sure!), so luckily my friend Heather snapped this photo.

Shelby was very excited about the candy cane, Cameron was very excited about the marshmallows. Oh, was there hot chocolate in the cup too? He hardly noticed. 

And that kicks off our winter school break!
