Does Heather Look a Little BIG Around the Middle?

I will for the next few months...we're having a baby!

So, a lot of you already know, but we've been meaning to do an official announcement post forever. Here it is!

We found out the good news on December 10th and Tom spread the word to family and friends.

We did wait until Christmas Eve to tell my family, though, so we could do it in person. After we opened our Christmas Eve presents, we had my mom open an extra gift. It was an "I Love Grandma" onesie. Cute! It was such a fun surprise.

I hadn't told anyone before my family; Tom took care of spreading the word up to that point. Now we're both sharing the news.

I had my first doctor visit a week ago and things look great. I had a bit of a surprise, too - turns out I'm 13 weeks along! I didn't think I was that far. That means we have a sweet little baby due on July 21. Hooray!

The proud daddy

We are SUPER excited to be parents. We've also got lots to learn - we're both clueless when it comes to child care. Don't tell the baby we said that!

Speaking of being clueless, we know there are a lot of things we need for a baby. We just don't know what they are. So, dear siblings that are done having kids, if you have the things you know we need and feel like putting them to good use again, we'd be glad to take them off your hands. No, seriously. We'll pay for shipping. (Tom said it's ok to bum off the family via blog!)

We've stocked up on the essential literature - What to Expect When You're Expecting

I'll keep the updates coming for sure. I'll even put up some tummy shots...grudgingly.

It's going to be a crazy ride!

Yeah! I am so excited for you guys!!! And since they changed your due date, we're only 2.5wk apart. Even better! Oh, but get Pregnancy Week by Week. Its way better than What to expect when expecting, although it is nice to have both when you're trying to find an answer. Ooo, and get on babycenter.com. It has a wealth of information and they'll send you weekly updates about your baby which are lots of fun! I'm so happy to have a prego buddy!!!

Oh man! Congrats! I am sorry that I missed the skating breakfast too, it seems like I am always out of town when the Christmas one comes around! You are going to be THE cutest pregnant lady, with your curly hair and your tiny little body! So exciting to have two friends prego at the same time! Congrats again!!

We're so happy for you guys! We'll get some stuff together. You'll be great parents - don't worry.

We were actually just talking about what to keep and what to donate. Don't worry about a baby bjorn, we've got you covered. And I think that's a little unfair, you've only got an 8 month pregnancy for your first one :)

p.s. my word verification is "busts", too funny.

Congratulations!! I'm so excited for you guys. And if I read correctly, Heather is the new sunbeam teacher in your ward? That will definitely help you feel a little more prepared (at least it did for me). We definitely need to get together soon. We wanted to invite you two and the Wongs over for dinner soon. Interested?

I also wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday (last Saturday) I don't really have another way to contact you I don't think so Happy Birthday! Hope it was great!

w00t! (Tom, notice the zeros for O's). I know that we knew, but it is still exciting to read about all over again. 13 weeks...on the Ronan-plan that's half-way! But really, I don't suggest that plan. :)
As for clueless, when Ilana was born we didn't even think to change her diaper until about 10 hours later...really? Ya think maybe that would be a good thing to do at some point. We learned--so will you.

Heather! I'm SO THRILLED! I KNEW it was coming soon!. It turns out my psychotic pouncing at the Thanksgiving Dinner wasn't TOO far off! Phew, I'm not as crazy as I look. Rather we can say I'm intuitive! I am really sad not to be SAHMs on the same street though. Oh well, we can do cross-city playdates still, right? Oh, I totally second the Pregnancy Week by Week. It gives you good advice without scaring you with other people's issues. But yes, you'll probably refer to both- at least I did. I know I'm weird, but I absolutely LOVED being pregnant! Enjoy it! It sounds like you're not sick!? That's fabulous! Good luck! Will you find out if baby is a he or she?

That is wonderful news! I'm so happy for you. FYI I didn't like that book, What to expect when you're expecing and my Dr. agreed it wasn't the best. I loved "Your Pregnancy week by week" http://www.yourpregnancybook.com/

You're going to think I'm crazy, but start buying diapers now every trip to the grocery store. Get at least 15 packs in each size 1-3 (maybe 10 for newborn). Seriously, diapers are expensive but getting them a little at a time isn't bad. When Taylor was born we had well over 1,000 diapers stored up in the closet. Yes that does sound crazy.
