A Day at the Fair

Who'd have thought an area as cosmopolitan as LA county would have a county fair? We got to go with our friends Jay and Meghan and Chris, Holly, and Whitney on Saturday. I had been looking forward to it for weeks, and it didn't disappoint.

We went to the pig races...yes, literally pigs racing.
Funny as it was, we still got distracted by Shelby's cuteness.

She enjoyed some quality time with dad in the Baby Bjorn, too. Thanks for sharing, Lynn! She looked so cute in it. Tom put her right to sleep.

One of the best things about a fair is the food (remember Templeton from Charlotte's Web: "a fair is a veritable smorgasbord...").

I'm a wimp, though - I didn't try any of the crazy deep fried things like Oreos and Twinkies. Next time. We did have some incredible funnel cake, and that plus Hot Dog on a Stick made my day. Yummy, yes...nutritious, no.

Speaking of food, perhaps the fair's food entries should have been better preserved. This photo is of us realizing that the middle of that huge bun is full of mold.

We're so lucky to have great friends and lots of fun things to do around here. We're glad, too, that Shelby's so willing to tag along when we play!
