The Sturgeon Face: It's All About Self-Mastery

Tom has no idea what kind of trend he was starting when he brought up the Sturgeon Face at Thanksgiving, but we had some seriously fun times the other night when the subject came up again.

Let's rewind. It all started with another birthday dinner, this time for our December girls Holly and Elizabeth. We went to Cafe 140 in Pasadena, another restaurant I'd definitely recommend if you're in that area.

Meghan and I weren't afraid to dig in to the tasty burgers and curly fries.

Elizabeth risked sending me to the ER by ordering the Thai salad (I had a bad allergic reaction the first and only time I ate Thai. I blew up like a balloon. Luckily Elizabeth's salad didn't get me down - I'm a fighter).

The silliness built up on the way home when Elizabeth and Jane went for the Siamese twin look (Thai food? Siamese twins? We're a cultural group). It was freezing!

Then, back at Elizabeth's place, she was thrilled to show me "The world's first happy Sturgeon Face".

She saw it in a magazine ad and flashed back to our Thanksgiving Sturgeon Face shenanigans.

Then came the question from the ladies Tom hadn't educated yet: "What's a Sturgeon Face?"

Elizabeth and I were more than happy to demonstrate, and Jason was more than happy to catch our beauty shots.

First I got betrayed again - one lone Sturgeon Face amid the laughter. I see how it is. Again.

Then, after Elizabeth's "No more fun, Sturgeons!" lecture, we pulled off this beautiful thing:
Aw, aren't we cute little Sturgeons? Apparently the effort on Jane's part resulted in loss of her left leg. She's our peg-leg Sturgeon. I'm fighting laughter so hard here, you have no idea. This was not easy!

If you don't get it, it's ok. We have fun.

hahaha...haven't stopped laughing, really! My favorite is still your quote "Oh, Jane, it just keeps getting worse!" hahaha.

Also...if everyone was supposedly "Normal" in your sturgeon face picture, then I'm a pretty "odd" sort of normal! HA HA HA!!!!

It was Indian food that you had the reaction to, not Thai. Don't ask me how I remember that! Though maybe sturgeon face is an allergic reaction of its own!

Hahaha I like you guys! Poor Jane, lost her leg. I read that and looked back at the picture and started laughing! You girls are cute and fun. :)
