My neighbor Heather and I (we've become known as "The Heathers") threw a block party so we could all mingle and have dinner before trick or treating. We were so nervous that people wouldn't come and we'd be the lame new neighbors standing there alone. Then people came! It was a hit!
My neighbor Chris figured out that if you yelled "Happy Halloween" to the kids that they'd drop everything to yell it back. Here are Shelby, Brayden, Payton, and Nash mid-yell.
Shelby grabbed the sidewalk chalk and drew herself holding a trick or treat bag. I think she was ready!
Almost time for trick or treating! That thing on my head is a witch hat. It looks weird in the photo.
After the block party it was time for some serious trick or treating. Shelby was so patient and got right down to business.
Tom is so great. He took over and helped Shelby get a serious haul.
Cameron was a little wiped out post-party. He came back to the house with me to pass out candy.
No one really had a chance to see Cameron's awesome shirt, so I snapped a photo. RIBBIT.
Guess what, guess what? We had trick or treaters at our house! Dozens of trick or treaters!
All I've ever wanted our whole marriage is one trick or treater. Just one. After seven Halloweens together we got a whole lot of nothing. No one! Neither of our apartments was very kid friendly.
It was our eighth Halloween together and eighth time was the charm! It was all I wanted.
Guess which trick or treater was my favorite? This beautiful princess!
Thanks for coming by, Rapunzel! |
Happy Fall!
