It Was A Merry Christmas!

We had a lot going on this Christmas - Shelby's first, trip to visit family in Utah, and my little sister ready to have her baby any day. That all made for a great week.

We decided to drive through the night in hopes that Shelby would sleep the whole way. She has a tendency to get worked up in her car seat at times, so we were nervous about the 10 hour drive, but she did so good! Whew! Erwin was a great road trip car, too.

The aftermath of an all-night road trip.

I kicked off Christmas Eve with a reunion breakfast with my skating friends. If my hair looks different, it is. I recently cut it and took out a bunch of the blonde. If my hair looks stringy, too, it is. I washed it shortly after, don't worry!

Then we did our traditional dinner and a movie and then Christmas Eve jammies. Last year we announced to my family that Shelby was on her way, and this year they all got to play with her. So much fun!

Some Grandpa time.

Christmas was really different this year because we had Shelby and no Andrea and Jake. Nobody was in a big hurry to get the festivities started; we enjoyed sleeping in.

This is how excited Shelby was for Christmas morning.

We hardly noticed our own presents because it was so much fun to watch Shelby play with hers.

This is Penny, Shelby's new puppy.

After we had a delicious turkey dinner (that I could actually enjoy this year - thank goodness pregnancy nausea goes away!), Shelby got to meet her great grandparents and a bunch of extended family. They all loved her!

The rest of the trip was all about Shelby. She's super alert and interactive these days, so Grandma and Grandpa Garner had a blast playing with her.

We were a bit on edge the whole weekend wondering if Andrea would have her baby or make it to her scheduled date to be induced. Then we got a fantastic surprise on Sunday morning - Haylie Mae Taylor is here!

Two of my favorite beautiful ladies.

This gorgeous girl was born at 4:05 am and weighed 8 lbs. 12 oz. I'm so excited for her and Shelby to meet. Congratulations, Andrea and Jake!

Heading home...

The holidays treated us well this year. On to 2010!

Is Shelby a thumb sucker? So cute! Maddie kept trying, and I kept forbiding it, but the two pick we have of her doing it are too cute. Penny is just the right kind of dog! I'm glad you all had so much fun!

So glad it was such a great Christmas--I love the pic of Shelby-as-Gift with the bow on her head. She's the perfect gift for you and Tom, and it looks like your sister got a matching one! Hayley is so cute--especially those chubby cheeks!

Sending a warm welcome to Hayley. She is beautiful and I love those chipmunk cheeks. She & Shelby are going to grow so close in the years ahead.
