It's A...

...BOY!

Sorry, we found out weeks ago, but I haven't had a chance to blog to the world. I'm so excited to shift gears and get into boy mode.

I've already been nesting a bit, much earlier than with Shelby. I think it's because I've already got all the stuff, it's just a matter of getting it out and dusting it off. Well, except for the entire boy wardrobe thing, but I'll waste no time getting to that. Even most of Shelby's toys are gender-neutral - she's as much into fire trucks and race cars as she is into princesses. So they can start on play time early.

Shelby understands more and more the idea that we're going to have a new family member at home. At least as much as she can right now. She's been a big help with nesting. We've made some changes lately, and Shelby's just awesome.

Here's a little bit of what's going on:

We pulled out the infant car seat, which Shelby promptly adopted as her official General Conference watching spot.

We also got Shelby a big girl bed!

I took it as a sign that we were ready for baby #2 when my neighbor stopped by one day, told me she was moving and needed to lighten her load, and asked if we'd like a twin bed free of charge. Um, yes please! She brought over this beautiful sleigh bed and I quickly went to work getting a mattress and bedding.

With all in place, it was time to move Shelby on over. It took a bit of time because Shelby loves her crib. She took her first big girl bed nap the day after her 2nd birthday:

Yes, at the foot of the bed, but she'll get it figured out!

After that, she kind of alternated between bed and crib for awhile. Sometimes, she'd get caught up in play time and would try out a third sleeping option:

...not the crib...

...the floor? Whatever works, little girl.

She's now 100% a big girl bed sleeper and she sleeps well (and lots!). She really loves her "flower bed" and I think she'll be ok with sharing her crib someday soon.

We are thrilled to have a boy join our family. It's been so fun to watch this little guy grow and we can't wait to meet him. We'll keep you all posted!
