Our Weekend

We had a lot of fun this weekend and have lots of photos to share.

On Friday we went to Pretend City with Shelby's friends Jack and Natalie. There's so much to see there that the kids were rarely within ten feet of each other, so I didn't catch them all in a photo together. But it was fun to see them.

We got there just in time for story time, so Shelby sat down with the crowd. Before they started, a guy came around with the microphone to get some of the kids' names. Shelby wanted to introduce herself, so I showed her how to raise her hand. Here's the conversation:

Guy w/ Microphone - "Hi, what's your name?"
Shelby - "Hi, my name is Shelby."
Guy w/ Microphone - "Well, great to have you! How old are you?"
Shelby - [Blank stare. Long pause...] "Hi, my name is Shelby."
- Lots of laughs from the crowd -
Guy w/ Microphone - "Well that works for me! Have fun."

Sailing boats. The place provides raincoats, which are a lifesaver. Her shorts still got soaked, though.

Painting a picture of an elephant.
Dr. Shelby, DDS
Cameron waiting for his first checkup from big sister.
Dr. Shelby found out there's not much she can do for a toothless patient.
Taking time out to relax and eat a snack.
Shelby the firefighter. The boy behind the fire truck was in LOVE with her. He followed us around and kept telling me "She's so cute!". I'm not going to enjoy life when Shelby can date.

Shelby's church nursery leader has given her a nickname - The Flit. It perfectly describes the way she so quickly flits from one activity to another. The nickname perfectly describes our afternoon. Nothing held her attention for more than a minute because there were so many other things to see at the same time. It was exhausting just to watch! She got to try out pretty much everything Pretend City had to offer and had a great time.
The jacket weighed as much as Shelby does, I swear!
She could fit in one pant leg.
Boots to her hips. She kept tipping over.
Inside an ambulance.
In the fire engine passenger seat.

Saturday was the Redondo Beach Fire Department open house. The fire station opened its doors and let us explore. Shelby loves fire trucks and this was a perfect place to spend the afternoon.

She got to try the equipment and get in the vehicles...but mostly she enjoyed just playing on the grass.

We wore her out!
