Thanksgiving Shenanigans

This is the first year of our marriage that Tom and I have spent Thanksgiving with my parents.

They are cute. And fun. And we all like them. So we were super excited when they decided to fly down for a holiday visit.

Not only did we have a great Thanksgiving feast with them, we were also able to fit in a day in LA and a day at Disneyland. We all had a fantastic time.

Here's the proof:

We went to the La Brea Tar Pits to learn about all the bones and fossils hanging out in the middle of LA...

Shelby bravely held her own among the intimidating animal statues.

Then we checked out LACMA next door...
We've been to this street lamp display before, and Shelby was glad to be back.

My parents are cute. No doubt about it.
The rock in the background is an art installation called "Levitated Mass". Although the rock looks small, it's actually a 340 ton granite boulder suspended above a pathway. It was a little unsettling watching Shelby run underneath. That thing better be sturdy!

On our way to refill the parking meters, we made this amazing discovery...

This is a section of the Berlin Wall. It's now on permanent display here on Wilshire Boulevard. We could walk right up and touch it. What an incredible piece of history. I'm glad it's here and not still serving its original purpose!

We then crossed the street and checked out the Petersen Automotive Museum...

I've wanted my dad to come here for years because he's a big time car guy. The place didn't disappoint.

Grandma had fun in the streetcar with her grandkids.

There was a huge Hot Wheels collection. My mom remembered a lot of the cars that her brothers had played with.
Shelby got sleepy and decided the floor is as good a place as any to get some rest.

We had a very fun day at Disneyland...

I love these kids.

It didn't take long to wear them out - this is at lunch time!
Shelby snuggling her dad - she's still trying to wake up.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Shelby tips the scales at almost 40 pounds these days!
Cameron got to try his first ice cream! It was dang cute. He's lucky to have a generous grandma!
Caution - crazy driver! Shelby hung with dad in this car, and she drove with grandpa in the ride. Adorable.
Me and sweet Cameron during the Christmas parade.
The It's a Small World ride is so cute at Christmas time. Check out all of the lights!

Then came Thanksgiving day...
...and there it went.

We were too busy feasting to bother with photos. Less pose, more eat!
We're so grateful that mom and dad were there, and our sweet friends Elizabeth, Jason, and baby Asher. We all ate well!

Yes, that's a bottle - he's done nursing!

I'll leave off with my favorite Thanksgiving decoration.

Shelby made this tree in nursery. Each leaf features something she's thankful for (or in her words, something she's "thank you" for). We're wondering if it's ranked according to height on the tree. If so, Tom and I have some stiff competition from Disneyland! It really is hard to compete with The Happiest Place on Earth.

I'm Thankful that we spent Thanksgiving with family and friends. We are so blessed.

On to Christmas!
