Here's what we were up to this past weekend...
On Friday afternoon Shelby had her last swimming class after four straight weeks. What a trooper. And what a swimmer! The lessons have made a world of difference. The awesome thing about this last session is that there was no one else in Shelby's class. Private lessons for the price of group? I'll take it!
We ended on a bummer note because her adorable teacher got sick and couldn't make it to Shelby's last two lessons. The subs just didn't have the touch. But the last lesson was awesome because Tom came to see her show her stuff. Shelby loves to show off for her daddy.
I'm thrilled to see her under water and swimming out so far. I'm so proud of her!
On Saturday we went to the Ventura County Fair. I had no plans to drag us to the fair this year. We've visited the LA County Fair a bunch of times in our parenting days and had a blast each year, but I almost skipped out on what our new county has to offer.
Until I found out there was a rodeo.
I love a good rodeo. There's something familiar and nostalgic about the whole vibe. When our friends invited us to join them, I jumped at the chance. I have a good family willing to tag along and let me watch almost to the end. I loved it.
This is what I woke up to on Friday morning. How cute are these Bruin boys? Grandma Seguine, this is especially for you.

Shelby still loves tractors. There was a display outside the grandstand. This one's tires dwarfed her.
As a reward for sitting so well through the rodeo, we let Shelby play some games and ride some rides. Poor Cameron needs to grow a few inches first.
She won a prize at one booth and hinted that she'd like the hammer the worker was holding. He of course gave it to her without hesitating.
Shelby and dad got to go through the magic maze. She walked right into a trick panel at the start. The enormous twisty slide at the end made up for it.
On Sunday we went outside to play in the backyard and found a friend - a little frog had moved in to the water table. He was ok with climbing all over Tom and the kids. Brave guy.
Our neighbor heard us playing with Ribbert and asked if we'd like to come over to pick tomatoes from the planter in her yard. She was so sweet to let us help ourselves.
