Transfer Time

Elder Garner has been transferred!

Where to?

Not a cave...

His high school mascot was a Caveman - this works!

...not Happy, Texas - the Town Without a Frown...

Look at that grin! Cheese!

...not a lighthouse...

In the desert? Really?

...he's going to Roswell, New Mexico!

Yes, Roswell is sort of the UFO capital of the country since reputedly an extraterrestrial crash landed there in the 1940s. And yes, we've already had lots of fun throwing around alien "take me to your leader" jokes.

Unfortunately there was a shooting at a middle school there today. Maybe the timing worked out so that Elder Garner and his new companion can do some damage control. I sure hope so.

Taylor left Canyon, Texas behind with great experiences and memories.

Lots of hikes at Palo Duro Canyon:

We can't figure out what in the world Elder Miles is doing back there.

Some good Christmas gifts, like this money tree from yours truly:

Cha-ching!

Ok, it looked a lot better before it went through the mail.

An awesome wardrobe:

Tied too tight maybe?

I sent him the bow tie as a joke and told him he had to wear it at least once.

And David - this is my favorite story so far:

David's baptism.

David works at the local Walmart.

One day a woman from the ward took a new picture on her shopping trip to find a frame. The picture was a painting of Christ with a scripture quote below. When she went to check out, she set the picture on the counter to free up her hands while she unloaded the cart.

David saw the picture, read the quote, and asked,

"Is that in the Bible?"

The woman told him no, it's in the Book of Mormon.

David said,

"Oh...is that in the Bible?"

The woman then saw a chance to tell David about the Book of Mormon and asked if he'd like the missionaries to come teach him even more. David said yes. Elder Garner and his companions got to teach him for a while. Now he's baptized! What a great guy.

I keep forgetting to ask Taylor what scripture it was that caught David's eye. I'll post it when I find out.
Elder Miles, David, Elder Valgardson, and Elder Garner after the baptism.

Elder Garner is very excited to be working with his new companion, Elder Crawford. The two are hopefully safe and sound in Roswell by now and ready to meet some more good people.

We love you Tay!
