Spring Break

This week was our first official spring break.

Since Shelby was born, up until she started preschool, I've been in charge of the kids all day every day. So I don't know why I was so intimidated by the thought of having a whole week to fill - no preschool!

We had a great week though. We stayed busy.

Day 1:
We joined some friends at story time at the Camarillo Library. The children's library has a pirate ship in the middle and a great play area.

Brenna, Shelby, Ethan, Cameron, Maren, Nathan, and Paige.
Legos are always a hit.
Since Underwood Farms is on the way back from the library, we stopped to pick berries. Making more jam was on my to do list, so the timing worked out perfectly.

We've never picked blueberries before. They were delicious!

MOO!

My little billy goat.

Day 2:
I promised the kids that if they'd go to Home Goods with me to do a return, I'd take them to the ant hill playground. They were so good. Even when the return turned into buying more stuff. So we went to slide at the ant hill.

Riding doubles

They also served delicious sand ice cream at their playground ice cream parlor.

Day 3:
We checked out the Museum of Ventura County Agriculture Museum. It was very hands-on, so my kids had a great time.

We got lots of yummy fruits and veggies at the produce stand, thanks to our helpful cashier Shelby.

Then we ordered lunch at the cafe.

A chance to drive a tractor is always time well spent.

Yes, he's in socks - the poor guy got a blister on his heel.

There is a display of found photographs in the museum right now. The photos feature animals from A to Z. The letter U animal is the Utah Prairie Dog. Being from Utah I wanted to check out the photo. What I saw was this doppelganger of my Grandpa Warnick. Crazy!

Many areas of Utah were settled by the Warnick family, who joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden and immigrated to Utah in the late 1800s. So it's very very likely that this could be an ancestor. Maybe not, but I've been back and forth with the artist hoping to find out. Could be a cool story!

Day 4:
The Santa Barbara Zoo! We road tripped with Heather, Nash, and Sadie and had a great day at the zoo. We bumped into a few friends from our ward while we were there; seems like it was the place to be.

We saw how we measured up to the big grumpy gorillas.

Said hi to the animals.

Had a fun picnic.

Played in the play area - a lot.

The hedge maze - so cute.

And rode the train! I think that was the favorite for all the kiddos.

They really did love it even though Shelby looks terrified and Cameron looks indifferent.

Fun day at the zoo!

Day 5:
Today we went to the pool in the morning and took it easy for the rest of the day. We gave the car a bath, got ourselves cleaned up, rode bikes a bit, and enjoyed the last day of the break.

It was a fun week.
