Done!

Ta da! Check out the Seguine armoire!

It's gone through a bit of a makeover. Here's a before shot:

Here's a bit of history about this armoire. It's been in Tom's family for three generations now. Tom's dad used it as a baby; his dad, Tom's grandpa, made it by hand. Then it went through Tom's siblings. Then Ed and Jen's family were kind enough to pass it down to us to use with our babies. We were thrilled to have it.

Having Jen offer us the armoire was one thing; figuring out how to get it from their house in Pennsylvania to us in California was another. Enter Tom's mom, who just so happened to be making a cross-country drive around the same time. She generously offered the back of her car and delivered the armoire in person to us in Redondo Beach just weeks before Shelby was born. So we've now had the armoire almost five years.

And for four years I stared at it, wanting to refinish it and add our personal touch. I put it off a long time.

When we got our house we had a garage and therefore a work space, so it was time to get to it. I think it was August when we carried it down to the garage...and in May we finally finished it! We took our time; I've never refinished anything and I didn't want to rush.

It was a lot of paint scraping, sanding, staining, sealing, and deciding on hardware, (and asking lots of questions at the local hardware store...they started recognizing me when I came in), and it was all worth it. I'm so happy with the way it turned out.

And by the way, our garage floor is now polka-dotted with stain, and I think it could be a new trend. You're welcome, Tom.

I hope you all love it, Seguines!

That looks so wonderful! I love it! I have so many memories of Dallin and Taylor peeking out of the right side. It was a favorite hiding place, so I finally quit hanging clothes in there :)
