Our Summer / Fall Day

Shelby had no school yesterday and today (Happy Veterans' Day!). Today was pretty booked up, so I left the day wide open for her yesterday.

She chose...the pool.

Say...CANNONBALL!

And yesterday wasn't one of the eighty-degree days we've had lately; it was chilly and overcast and breezy and fall-ish.

But we pretended it was summer and went to the pool. How could I say no?

So this is what the kids did with our free afternoon.

Shelby in mid-air.

Cameron towing along his big sister.

I didn't join them in the big pool. Too chilly for me! So I watched these cute faces from the side.

I did finally get in the hot tub for a few minutes while they played. We all lasted a whole hour; not too bad!

Then the day took a U-turn into fall festivities.

My friend Heather had a clever idea to have the kids jump in the leaves. Fall foliage is in short supply in Moorpark, but there is one stretch near our neighborhood with some leafy trees. The crunchy leaves on the ground were perfect for raking, jumping, and throwing.

Shelby got right to work...

...Cameron got right to play.

Cameron is a blur, but how cute is Sadie here?

Ready, set...

...throw!

It was fun to watch the kids pretend there are seasons where we live.
