The Golden Trailer Awards

Tom and I had a chance to go hang out with the entertainment industry buffs tonight at the Golden Trailer Awards. This is where companies like mine go to show off their crazy cool trailer-making skills.

The show was at the famous Orpheum Theater in downtown LA. Many an American Idol contestant has faced the mounting pressure of stardom and Simon Cowell from this very place.

Tom and me with Sterling, a super cool editor I work with.

The Oscars-style show was hosted by Sinbad and had random guest presenters that I think I was supposed to know, but I have no clue who they were. They were funny, though! So was my pal Sinbad.

The show is going to be televised, so they kept coaxing us to keep up the laughter and applause and we complied like well-trained puppy dogs. It's all for the sake of television! It was fun hearing Sinbad and the presenters mess up and have to repeat the same jokes over and over...and our laughter grow more and more forced.

My company, KO Creative, got two nominations - hooray! One was for a film called La Vie En Rose in the Best Independent Film category. The movie is about the French singer Edith Piaf, so of course I love the film and the trailer. Gracie was nominated in the Golden Fleece category. "What kind of category is that?" you might ask...well, it's for trailers that are far better than the movies they advertise. Yes, KO Creative has won this category at the Golden Trailers many times before. We've had some stinkers, but we turn out dang good trailers! This year, though, we sadly didn't win in either category. Maybe Tom and I jinxed it? Oh, well, we had a great time.

Yes, I did say it will be televised...just a matter of figuring out when...the show will air as "The Ninth Annual Movie Preview Awards" on Memorial Day in the evening (when no one will be watching TV...this may be one for the Tivo!). I know it's on channel 13 in LA, which I think is Fox (yup, Tom and I still don't have TV hooked up! I don't have a clue!). Give it a shot and see if you catch a glimpse of us in the middle of our Hollywood experience!

Straight Hair???? I like it both ways. My David's girl Charlotte has curly hair and wears it long and straight but it takes effort. Your job sounds like lots of fun. Isn't it wonderful to enjoy every aspect of life? My best to you two, you are so well matched.
