...In the case of the apartment fire on Beachwood Drive tonight, it took 9 fire trucks, 3 ambulances, 2 SUVs, a helicopter, and a Fire Marshall car to get the job done.
It was a pretty exciting night as the fire was only a block away from us. I heard the sirens and saw the trucks whizzing by while making dinner, and Tom drove up as the smoke became visible in the sky. We ran out for a quick peek at the excitement and saw a dark column of smoke above an apartment building up the street.
The sirens continued and the trucks kept rolling in after we went back inside, so we decided to take another look with the camera in tow this time. We got right up to the action. Burning buildings don't smell so great.
Luckily they got the fire out quickly (how could they not with firemen spread up and down two whole blocks?) and we didn't hear of any injuries to people or pets. They had to use the ladder, though - see it? I hope nothing is too badly destroyed.
Because there were so many firemen around to take care of things, this guy wasn't too busy to take a photo. Sweet! The photo op is Tom approved - he asked the guy and he took the picture!

Aidan, Davin, and Eme loved the pictures! They are envious that you got to see such excitement, and that you got your pic taken with a firefighter. love you.
Woo! What excitement! We hear fire trucks drive past our apartment all the time...maybe we should start following them! ;)
One Sunday morning, we had 9 fire trucks right outside our apartment building because the building next door was on fire. I did not think to get a picture of the fireman though. Nice job!
