Heather + Paseo...A Love Story

Aw, my 1996 Toyota Paseo.

I love this car more than any Maserati owner loves his, I'm sure. She's lost two hubcaps and gained plenty of new scratches since we've lived here, so maybe I don't baby her like a Maserati owner would baby his car, but the Paseo and I have a pretty darn good thing going (she just got a shiny new set of hubcaps, by the way, so she's lookin' good).

I have to pay a long overdue tribute to my little car because on Sunday we hit a milestone - 100,000 miles! And she doesn't look a mile over 50,000.

Almost there...

Hooray! She made it!

My parents surprised me with my little Paseo on Christmas Eve right before I turned 16. They're so cool! I got my license the next month, and then the fun began. My Paseo moved to Vegas when I did, suffered through accidents (2), speeding tickets (3), and locking the keys in the car incidents (5) in my high school days, spent a year with my sister while I was a freshman at BYU, came up to Provo for my sophomore and junior year, proved an excellent getaway car after our wedding reception, moved to California with Tom and me, suffered through the initiation period of about a million parking tickets, and proved worthy enough to chauffeur Tom's surfboard.

Now she's at 100,000 miles! My girl's growing up so fast!

At our wedding reception.
Check out that handiwork - the guys took this job VERY seriously!

It took forever to break through all the saran wrap...
and I'm still finding window paint and balloon fragments!

Check her out...so surfer-savvy!

Loved it. Toyotas just go forever; mom and dad had one that was so old and worn, that the keys would fall out of the ignition whenever it turned a corner. Thanks for sharing, it made me smile.

Awww, the Paseo! Wow, I can't believe it has lasted through all that we have put it through! It's such a great car, waaay better than any Masarati! ;)

As someone who's still driving a (healthy) 1992 Toyota, I can assure you that you'll have this car for yeeeears to come. :)

And you guys are so cute in the wedding picture!

That is a really cute picture of you guys from after the wedding reception.

What a great car! Talk about being there through thick and thin. I had no idea you've had that many accidents/tickets/lock ins. Haha. That made me chuckle. You're awesome.

What a milestone. Don't you love old dependable cars? That's funny you're still finding leftover pieces from your wedding reception. We just inherited a 1998 Toyota with 211k miles. Still going strong!

Oh the memories of that crazy night in the Paseo being stuck on the side of i-80 on the way to skating practice. Glad that wasn't an indication of what was to come of her.

We too love our Toyota. Our baby girl just turned over 200k and you can tell that she's happiest when she's hauling us through backcountry and digging through some mud.

Isn't it funny how much a part of your family a good car can be? We're hoping for at least another 5 years with our 4Runner (and she's yet to have a repair bill higher than $300! hurray!)

K- as a reply to your questions, that is teresa griffiths in front of Lindsay. She was on the younger team. I don't know if you would know her or not. The girl on the far right is Heather Miller! Can you believe it? That is Meghans little sister.
