The Rumors Are True...

...we're moving! In an attempt to shorten Tom's commute to El Segundo, we've decided to move from Hollywood to Redondo Beach. Consequently, this puts us pretty darn close to the beach. 1/2 mile away, to be exact - we measured. Sweet!

There are a lot of perks to our move. It's a nice apartment, less rent, two bedrooms, really cool area, shorter commute for Tom (I still work in Beverly Hills...we'll see how it goes for me), and beach access in no time. No matter how great it is, though, we're going to miss our cute Hollywood place. We took a walk after deciding to move and put together a photo tribute to the awesomeness (it's a word) of Beachwood Canyon and Hollywoodland.

We're very squirrel-friendly in Hollywood...apparently.

One of several cool staircases in Hollywoodland. The plaque says this one was built in 1923!

I'm not sure what to make of "The Garden of Oz" - it's very...ornate. It's somebody's creative outlet, I'm sure, that's now open to the public. These Hollywood Hills people get a bit eccentric.

Beachwood Drive has a great view of the Hollywood sign - the street is always crammed with tourists risking life and limb to pose for photos. Tom and I know how to find the best views, though. This is just a ten minute walk from our apartment!

This is one of our favorite places to walk - the Hollywood Reservoir. You'd never know a city like LA is right over the hill. It's a good escape.

The "Face Rock" is along the trail around the reservoir. It always has a creative face - this one is especially cute.

At first I thought this was sad, but maybe signs like this are an ego boost for dogs. You think?

I thought this was hilarious. There was a car parked right in front of it - guess the driver didn't get the memo.

Griffith Observatory looks so grand up on the hill. If you saw Transformers, I'm sure you recognize it.

Isn't our neighborhood fun? We'll miss the walks, Beachwood Market, our other star-studded grocery store, Yoga on Beachwood in the old silent theater, free yoga in Runyon Canyon, the cute dogs scattered through the neighborhood, and our cool apartment.

Mostly, though, we'll miss the Hollywood Ward. I can't say enough about how much we've loved being members of it. We've met some amazing, amazing people who we PROMISE we'll stay in touch with.

We owe a big thanks to Chris and Holly for our surprise going away party on Monday - holy cow! They totally nailed the surprise element. There were lots of friends there to wish us well and we so loved it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We'll be sure to post a tour of our new neighborhood, too.
