This is how Shelby rang in the new year...
We woke her up to celebrate with us since she's been awake for the other two New Year's Eve shindigs of her life. About five minutes later, though, she asked to go back to bed. I guess we wore her out!
We had a fun day and she had reason to be sleepy. We took advantage of free passes to the OC Zoo (thanks, Elizabeth!) and spent the afternoon playing with the animals. It was beautiful up there and we'd love to go back for more. The 80 degree day didn't hurt, either!

Shelby loves when dad comes along on play dates!

The Christmas decorations were still up, and Shelby was excited since I took ours down already. Plus, she got to make a wish in the fountain, and that's a big favorite.

Shelby and Tom got right to work grooming the goats. They took the job very seriously.

 |
I love catching her mid-turn because her hair looks crazy.

 |
| We got to feed the goats, too! |

Showing him how it's done. Open wide!

| On our way out, Shelby showed us her impressive wingspan. Not quite to bald eagle status yet. |
 |
| But at least she's got the American Kestrel beat. Whatever that bird is. |
After all that fun, we headed back home and had our friends Jason and Elizabeth over for some dinner, games, and ringing in the new year. It was a great New Year's Eve.
On to 2012 and more adventures in blogging!
