Halloween Shenanigans

We love Halloween!

Here's what we've been up to...

We went to our ward Halloween party and trunk or treat. The kids got to debut their costumes.

Shelby wanted to be a butterfly...

...so it made sense for Cameron to be a caterpillar. His super buggy eyes looked hilarious and we loved his mismatched caterpillar feet. He's a good sport.

It was technically not Cameron's first costume...he got to dress up last Halloween, too...in my belly!

We went to Disneyland today to see what it's like on actual Halloween. So what is it like? Empty!!! There was hardly anyone there. They had a little carnival where Shelby got to play a beanbag toss game, make a flying bat, and see some characters in costume - Goofy, Pluto, and Mickey. Her favorite thing was visiting Jack Skellington at the Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion.

Shelby decided to forgo the butterfly for the afternoon in favor of her beautiful pink princess dress.

Cameron rocked his skeleton shirt. It was a hand me down, and when I saw it I crossed my fingers that it would fit at Halloween time. It's so cute! That's candy in the tummy. Love it.

Shelby went back to butterfly chic for the evening. We tinkered with face paint and glitter, too.

We went trick or treating at a Halloween festival near our place. They shut down the street and have trick or treating at the businesses in the area. Shelby loved it just as much as last Halloween and ran from place to place. It was a workout keeping up!

Cameron crashed on the walk over and spent the evening in the stroller hanging out with dad.

He woke up for the last part of the fun, though. He was all smiles - I think he likes Halloween!

When we got home we had a fun Seguine family tradition at dinnertime. Tom's family always had "Bat Stew" for Halloween night dinner. It's yummy soup served in a hollowed out pumpkin. It has some interesting ingredients, though, so you have to be in a Halloween state of mind if you dare eat it!

Here's our ingredient list:

Bat (cubed beef)
Frankenstein teeth (diced potato)
Werewolf hearts (tomato)
Raccoon toes (baby carrots)
Vampire fingernails (celery)
Zombie brains (broccoli)
Mummy bandages (sliced onion)
I must say, all of that disgusting stuff comes together to make a delicious dinner!

It was a great Halloween time.
