Beach Baby Bash!

Shelby's first birthday party was a success!

On Saturday we had a "Beach Baby Bash" at Veterans' Park near our house.

My brother Taylor and I arrived at 9am to reserve a spot for our 2pm party. Believe it or not, most of the tables were already filled with people, some who had been there since 5:30am. I'm glad we found a place for ourselves!

Taylor and I set things up all morning, and then my dad arrived with the grill. We got that set up, ran a few last-minute errands, and then we were ready to roll.

I had been so worried about how to get the big grill down to the park, but fate was on our side when Hertz gave my family an Xterra for the trip. The grill couldn't have fit better. Whew!

Tom came straight from school and started grilling delicious burgers and chicken. My cute mom walked down with Shelby the guest of honor. She was such a doll. I was a proud mama. And a happy one - I'm so glad that everyone loves Shelby and takes such good care of her. We missed you, Andrea, Jake, and Haylie! See you soon!

My friend Elizabeth, the baker extraordinaire, came through as always. She made scrumptious little cupcakes and an adorable layer cake for the birthday girl to enjoy. Shelby took a minute to get started, but once that frosting made it into her mouth she realized what she had and got down to business.

She got a bit upset when we cut off the cake supply...

I loved celebrating Shelby's first birthday and am so glad we had an excuse to get our family and friends together.
