Shelby's Early Birthday Present

Shelby is turning one year old this week. I know, it came fast.

We're prepping to have a birthday party for her this weekend, and an essential part of any summer get-together is some delicious BBQ grub. So we got a big ol' grill on Saturday!

We drove to one store, then another, then another, then back to the original on a quest for the best buy. It was a success - we got a killer deal and had an assembled grill delivered to our place ten minutes after buying it. Just in time for Tom to grill up some chicken and squash to break it in. Yum!

When the grill was delivered we wished Shelby happy birthday and let her know her present had arrived. It won't be long before she's old enough to know when we pull tricks like that on her, so we'll do it as much as we can now!

As I overheard our neighbors' drunken rendition of "Happy Birthday to America" a few minutes ago, I was reminded to wish you all a happy 4th of July! I hope it's lots of fun.

These neighbors were nice enough to invite us over for cake after the song. One of the girls there is Shelby's birthday week twin - hers is on the 5th, Shelby's is on the 7th. So to celebrate Shelby ate a ton of chocolate cake and got a fun star toy. She's a happy girl!

Just a side note - she's walking a ton now. Not huge distances, but she's getting better each day. Watch out, world!
