However...I always knew the arrangement wouldn't last forever.
About a month ago, I started to seriously consider leaving the company and becoming a 100% full time mama. I have loved spending so much time with Shelby. She's up and ready to go constantly and we've had amazing adventures. Fitting in play time and work time has been less doable the older she gets. I grew more and more detached from what was happening at work and didn't like feeling less effective than I could be. Because I could see myself getting less dedicated to being a good employee and more in love each moment with being a mom, it was time to totally embrace the role I'm divinely destined to have.
Yesterday Shelby and I visited the office for a goodbye party. We had cupcakes and everyone signed a card for me. I am very impressed with the level of support I've received for this decision, all from an office full of single people and/or working parents. I really appreciate that.
The people I've worked with have taken very good care of me and taught me a lot. I'm thrilled to have had the opportunity to work at my hotshot Beverly Hills office. I know for certain that I was meant to have this experience. It's been amazing and I left with no regrets.
I came to this job as a newlywed adjusting to life as a wife, learning how to survive in LA, and working to finish up my degree at BYU remotely. I left as a wife, mother, college graduate, and beach bum. It's funny to look back at the naive girl they hired as a receptionist and think how much they've all seen me grow. My boss and I are great friends, and she'll continue to see me grow because we'll definitely keep in touch.
Let's do the numbers:
- Time working at KO Creative: 4 years and 7 months (since October 2006)
- Time in my current position: 3 years and 9 months (since August 2007)
- Time working part time from home: 1 year and 7 months (since October 2009)

Sounds like great news! Congrats on giving the office the heave ho!
glad to hear things went so smoothly! i've always thought your job sounded like so much fun, but nothing beats being a stay at home mama!
Hurray! Glad the party was fun. Now Shelby can take the reigns as your full-time boss. And believe me, she will.
yay! I bet Shelby will love having her mom home all the time!
Heather that is awesome! You are such a great mamma! I'm excited for your life as a full time mom!
Congrats on your new phase of life! Shelby is lucky to have a mom who is capable of so many roles. You will be a good example to her no matter what you do, but you will really enjoy this time together:)
I LOVE this post! :)
You are such a hard worker and I love seeing that you have become such an amazing mom! Shelby really is so lucky to hang out with you all the time. Wish we were closer so we could have play dates!
Enjoy! It's always a wonderful feeling to know that you're in the right place at the right time doing the right thing. Just remember that when she paints the couch with toothpaste. :)
