Happy...Easter?

So last week, on Easter Sunday, Tom and I were a bit under the weather. 

The day before, after the trail race, we all stopped at a cafe in Malibu for lunch. It was a cute place right on the beach, which we loved, but it turns out lunch didn't love us back. 

We had to skip out on church (nothing like calling a sub an hour before church!) and opted for ginger ale and saltines instead of the big cookout dinner we had planned. 

Luckily Shelby is tougher than mom and dad and she didn't catch it at all. She spent the afternoon bringing us crackers and watching a Disney movie marathon while Tom and I lounged. We did manage to dye Easter eggs (sprawling on the couch between colors!) and do her Easter gifts, but all with very little fanfare.

Tom and I had the spring back in our step the next day, no worries. 

So today was our replacement Easter Sunday. Shelby wore her cute new purple Easter dress to church, we fired up the grill, and I baked my mom's delicious cherry dessert for a treat. Now that's more like it!

All I wanted in the whole world today was a picture of Shelby posing in her dress wearing an adorable bunny ears headband we got for Easter. She was a little volatile today and was NOT having any of that. So we get Shelby posing with mom's sunglasses instead. I'll take it.
