Happy 26th!

Yesterday was my birthday - I'm 26! Hooray for January 10th! It was a fantastic day.

Tom made cranberry waffles for breakfast - yum!

Then Shelby and I spent the afternoon at Disneyland. Good times!

Choo choo! Riding the Disneyland Railroad.
I'm trying to get in a few firsts each time we go now. This time it was a ride in a double-decker car and meeting Minnie Mouse.

She's been recognizing and saying "Minnie" for a bit, so I thought she'd be thrilled to see the real deal. Not so much - she was a bit skittish. She kept saying "no!" when we asked if she wanted to say hi to Minnie, and then she snubbed Minnie's high five request. Oh, well! She warmed up a bit toward the end and I think she still had fun. She loved Toon Town.

She was fascinated by the piano - she loves music!

Turns out Tom played chef all day; he made us tri-tip for dinner. Yum again!

It was a blast hanging out with Tom and Shelby and talking to friends and family through the day. I feel loved!

As a "farewell to age 25" activity, I ran a half marathon on Saturday with my friend Jane.

At the starting line.
I don't know why we felt the need to stoop...

Ok, by "ran with", I mean I started with her and then saw her at the end. She totally cruised, and I'm more of a snail's pace type runner. Slow and steady still finishes the race, right?

We jumped around a bunch to keep warm.
It was chilly!

I'm used to it - that's how my friend Jessica and I ran the St. George marathon both times, too.

Anyway, I had a total blast. The race was along some pretty trails in Irvine and it was a gorgeous morning.

Tom and Shelby came to cheer me on, too. They hung out with Seth and Ryan.

There was a point in the race that we ran past several times, so they hung out at that intersection and I got to wave at them.

Shelby tried to join the race!

It was so fun and I felt fantastic. It was a great way to go out with a bang.

Shelby rocked my medal all weekend.
Represent!

By the way, this little 18-month old went to nursery for the first time on Sunday.

She went in, sat down in a cute little chair with the rest of the kids, and had no problems at all. Good girl! She's been looking forward to playing for a while. There's an outdoor area in our nursery that she could see from inside the priesthood room. At the end of church she came in, saw me, and then turned right back around to play some more. It was hard to get her to leave!

Life is good!
